The Difference between a Garden Shed and a Utility Shed

Posted by admin on July 27th, 2010

One of the questions I get working in the garden department has to do with the difference between a garden shed and a utility shed. The answer is that by appearances, there isn’t much difference. Both can be made of wood, plastic or metal and both can be of any size you feel is right for your yard and/or the application you need it for. In other words, the difference is not on the outside but on the inside. Read the rest of this entry »

What’s So Different About the Atkins Diet Plan?

Posted by admin on March 22nd, 2010

Ask anyone who suffers from metabolic syndrome, which is an inability to handle eating a lot of carbohydrates, and they will tell you that the Atkins Diet Plan has literally given them a new lease on life. Just like there are no two snowflakes alike, individuals are very different as well. Some people have a metabolism that easily burns the carbohydrates in their diets. Other people end up with chronically dangerous high blood sugars and a tired pancreas that has been forced to pump out too much insulin to deal with the sugars. The Atkins plan enables those folks to give their endocrine system a rest and help them to heal on a cellular level from all the sugar the cells have been bombarded with, causing them to develop an insulin resistance. Eating Cookies to Lose Weight

Posted by admin on February 2nd, 2010

One of the diets that is gaining momentum lately is The Cookie Diet. This diet has you replace what you would normally eat during the day before dinner (breakfast, lunch and snacks) with six cookies. Now you only eat one cookie at a time and you eat one whenever you feel hungry or at least eat one every couple of hours. The cookies are only about 100 calories each so by the time you sit down to a modest dinner, you have only consumed about 600 calories. In essence this is just a low calorie diet. The cookies claim is that they contain certain amino acids that curb your hunger so having only 600 calories is more doable as a diet than it would be if you didn’t ingest these amino acids.

But does it really work? Well the trick is to stay with this diet. Low calorie diets work during the short term but they can be hard to stick with for the long term. Plus eating cookies all day long can get boring. Instead think about a more balanced diet with more protein in it. (See my Chocolate Lovers Diet) If you take in one high protein shake (I like Myofusion Protein from Gaspari) for breakfast and lunch and then go buy the Cliff brand mini bars that also only have 100 calories each, you’ll get a lot more protein and only a 100 – 150 more calories (depending on how you make it). This is a far more sound program and WAY more cheaper than the cookie diet. Try it and see for yourself.

Something’s Missing

Posted by admin on January 28th, 2010

This past Thanksgiving we did something we had never done before; invited a bunch of friends (20 in all) and entertained outside in the backyard area. We decided this would give us the much needed push to get everything completed even though we really didn’t have far to go. There were just a few areas that seemed like they had something missing and I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what. In walks my friend Lynn and within days I had a Medallion Wall Frieze mounted over the outdoor fireplace. It was perfect and really set the tone for all the other little “touches”.
