The Difference between a Garden Shed and a Utility Shed
Home Decor July 27th, 2010One of the questions I get working in the garden department has to do with the difference between a garden shed and a utility shed. The answer is that by appearances, there isn’t much difference. Both can be made of wood, plastic or metal and both can be of any size you feel is right for your yard and/or the application you need it for. In other words, the difference is not on the outside but on the inside.
A garden shed will have space for lawn and garden equipment and if specifically used for holding an array of tools that have long handles, short handles and hand tools to dig in the dirt to plant, hoe and weed. There may also be a place for chemicals as well. A utility shed may have some of the same things but they will also have shelves for nails, screws, hand tools like saws and drills, etc. It is more for holding any type of equipment for use in and around the home. If you purchase a large enough shed you can easily combine these two things into on big storage unit out in the backyard.
